Kurt Seligmann's Initiation Rites

  1. I needed the reminder to look up Seligmann's book on magic. (NOT tonight. Maybe over the summer?)

    I've wondered what it is about these sort of folded or wrapped looking forms that several surrealists did... Dorothea Tanning used that imagery a lot for awhile too.

  2. What a great post! I had no idea Seligmann was using the reverse glass technique-this is something I've been experimenting with for the past couple of years (a combination of collage on both sides of glass and reverse painting), so I'm thrilled to read of other examples.

    I also have the "Two Private Eyes" collection, and it has given me years of enjoyment. I'm always discovering something new in those hefty volumes. ..
